Maitraban Senior Citizen Township

Maitraban  is a senior living community created to offer seniors a life of peace, dignity, and companionship. Founded by the Gandhe family of Nagpur, known for their social work, the project is operated by Gandhe Jeewanchhaya Sanstha established in 2001. The idea for Maitraban originated in 1997, with the land purchased in 2000 and the campus completed in September 2003.

The project addresses the challenges posed by the decline of the joint family system and the migration of children abroad, providing a safe and engaging environment seniors. The campus benefits from a peaceful, low-traffic location ensuring a quiet yet accessible setting.

Amenities

Maitraban offers a self-sustained, pollution-free, and senior-friendly campus designed to combine safety, comfort, and engagement. The infrastructure includes landscaped gardens, non-slippery pathways, proper lighting, fenced boundaries, and 24×7 security, ensuring peace of mind for residents. Community spaces feature a multipurpose hall  a spacious dining hall and a well-equipped library reserved exclusively for the community. Staff accommodation is provided within the campus, reinforcing constant support and care.

Health and well-being are prioritized with weekly doctor visits, assistance to access medical care in Nagpur when required, and meal delivery to cottages for those with mobility challenges. Additional comforts include daily newspapers in multiple languages, shopping services for essentials, courteous and trained staff, and high-quality vegetarian food.

Accommodation

The community offers independent cottages as its primary housing model, avoiding the dormitory-style living typical of old age homes. There are 16 double-occupancy cottages and 12 single-occupancy cottages, each featuring a compound wall, open space, and gate. Cottages are fully furnished with all neccessary furniture.

Meals can be enjoyed in the communal dining hall or delivered directly to cottages. Prospective residents are required to submit an application form and are encouraged to stay a day or two before making a decision. The minimum stay is one month, with no maximum duration, and financial details including security deposit and monthly charges are provided upon request.
